ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Mission Command Program Support Specialist to support the U.S. Army War College (USAWC) at Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will enhance senior leader education by integrating Mission Command into courses, research, and strategic engagements, ensuring its principles are embedded across the College’s curriculum and activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Academic Support
  • Complete course synopses and syllabi for Mission Command electives
  • Propose topics and recommend lesson outcomes, readings, and materials
  • Create outlines of instruction and develop course modules and presentations
  • Invite guest speakers and prepare required documentation
  • Promote electives and attend the Elective Fair
  • Enter course and student information into learning management systems
  • Compile student rosters and communicate schedules and requirements
  • Present lessons in person or virtually and facilitate discussion
  • Grade participation, oral presentations, and written assignments
  • Submit post-course reports with observations and recommended changes
  • Develop and deliver USAWC lessons across core, elective, and seminar programs
  • Recommend lesson outcomes and supporting readings, media, or materials
  • Facilitate classroom dialogue and respond to student questions
II. Research Support
  • Propose and refine research topics on Mission Command and strategic issues
  • Submit research plans, conduct research, and coordinate researcher activities
  • Edit and deliver final research products for publishing
  • Submit required documentation for research deliverables
III. Symposia Attendance
  • Propose and justify participation in approved symposia
  • Attend and present at conferences, workshops, or wargames
  • Submit post-symposium reports and required documentation
IV. Project Support
  • Provide subject matter expertise and administrative support for USAWC projects
  • Assist in developing plans, programs, policies, and strategies
  • Support event execution and facilitate group discussions
  • Deliver post-event reports within required timelines
V. Faculty Training
  • Attend USAWC faculty development and training sessions
VI. Meetings
  • Participate in initial meetings with Government representatives
  • Submit annual plans and brief schedules of task accomplishment
  • Attend recurring weekly meetings to review tasks, deliverables, and status updates
VII. Monthly Report
  • Provide monthly reports summarizing activities and planned tasks

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Basic computer skills to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office
  • Basic writing and editing skills
  • Ability to search/create folders
  • Knowledge of computer terminology

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a faculty instructor at an accredited graduate degree-granting institution developing and teaching graduate-level courses (e.g. Army Command and General Staff College, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, or equivalent)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a senior leader (O-5 or equivalent)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in applying the principles of mission command in staff positions in senior military or civilian organizations

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience at a Senior-Level College (or equivalent) developing and teaching graduate level courses
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a senior leader (O-6 or equivalent)
  • Experience in both leadership and staff roles, as well as having served as a commander at the O-5 level or above (or equivalent) highly preferred

EDUCATION
  • Master’s degree in a discipline related to strategic mission command (e.g., Strategic Studies, Leadership, Military Arts and Science, Strategic Systems) required
  • Master’s degree from a Senior-Level College (e.g., US Army War College, USMC War College, Naval War College, Air War College, National War College) preferred
  • PhD from an accredited graduate degree-granting institution in military or organizational issues or a national security-related discipline highly preferred

CLEARANCE
  • U.S. citizenship is required as it supports the U.S. federal government
  • Active or Interim Secret clearance required

TRAVEL
  • Travel may be required

WORK HOURS
  • 40 hours per week
  • Primarily Monday–Friday 0700–1700
  • Occasional weekend hours required during courses

Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 100% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 100% of the time.
