POSITION SUMMARY
As a Business Development Officer, you are responsible for driving sales growth and expanding the Bank’s market presence through proactive outbound prospecting, cultivating new customer relationships, and deepening relationships by expanding business opportunities with existing customers. This role focuses on driving sales growth by generating deposits, loans, Cash Management services, Mortgage, and Wealth Investment referrals. By delivering tailored financial solutions and a superior client experience, the Business Development Officer plays a key role in generating revenue and positioning the Bank as a trusted financial partner in the community. This role is highly visible in the Bank and requires a high level of professionalism and self-awareness. In this role, you are required to be extremely flexible to meet the overall demands of the department and ultimately the Bank.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field; and/or equivalent relevant experience preferred
- 3+ years of experience in banking, financial services, or business development required
- Proven track record in outbound sales, client acquisition, or relationship management preferred
- Knowledge of banking products, including deposits, loans, Cash Management, Mortgage, and Investment/Wealth Management services preferred
- Active involvement in community and business organizations required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with internal bank partners and create a plan for independent and joint calling efforts to prospects and current bank customers throughout the assigned market
- Drive sales growth and expand the Bank’s market presence through proactive outbound prospecting, cultivating new client relationships, and deepening relationships by expanding business opportunities with existing customers
- Drive sales growth by generating deposits, loans, Cash Management services, Mortgage, and Wealth Investment referrals
- Generate revenue and position the Bank as a trusted financial partner in the community by delivering tailored financial solutions and a superior client experience
- Actively prospect and acquire new customers through targeted outreach, cold calls, referrals, networking events, and community involvement
- Conduct ongoing calls and visits with existing customers to strengthen relationships and uncover additional opportunities
- Develop, track, and manage a pipeline of qualified prospects to achieve consistent business growth and sales objectives
- Represent the Bank at community events, professional organizations, and business forums to enhance visibility, brand presence and to build strategic partnerships
- Engage prospective and existing customers in needs-based conversations to recommend appropriate solutions across the Bank’s full suite of products and services
- Work closely with branch teams, Relationship Managers, and specialists to ensure seamless client onboarding and service delivery
- Record sales activities, track opportunities, and update CRM (or other applicable) systems to monitor pipeline progress and ensure accountability
- Maintain compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements
- Actively support the ongoing development of a culturally diverse workforce
- Complete other duties as assigned as determined by management to be reasonable and beneficial
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively with existing and prospective customers, community leaders, business owners and internal partners, both individually and in front of a group. Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential. Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time is common. Must be able to operate a personal motor vehicle to frequently meet with existing and prospective customers, community leaders, business owners and internal partners in various locations throughout the assigned market area. Must be able to accurately gather and process verbal and written information and properly prepare or inspect documents. Good manual dexterity is needed for the frequent use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculators, copiers and telephones. Out-of-town or overnight travel may be required.
