VP Human Resources
Department: Human Resources Location: Atlanta, GAPosition Description:
The Vice President of Human Resources (VP HR) is a strategic and operational leader responsible for
aligning HR practices with organizational goals. This role oversees all core HR functions, including talent
acquisition, employee relations, compliance, training, and organizational development. The VP HR will
play a critical role in shaping a forward-looking people strategy that supports our mission, ensures
compliance with complex funding requirements, and fosters a culture of excellence and equity. This
position is ideal for someone strategic, organized and collaborative.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
� Develop and implement innovative talent acquisition and retention strategies aligned with
organizational goals.
� Partner with executive leadership to align HR initiatives with long-term business strategy and
mission impact.
� Lead workforce planning and succession strategies to ensure organizational sustainability.
Compliance & Risk Management
� Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
� Oversee HR components of grant and funding compliance, particularly related to employee
training and reporting.
� Support legal matters related to employment, including investigations, audits, and policy
development, including responsibilities related to compliance with DOL and ERISA compliance of
employee benefit plans.
� Work with CFO to support audit needs for defined benefit plans, federal grants and financial
statements.
Core HR Oversight
� Direct all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management,
compensation, benefits, and employee relations, while overseeing and cultivating strategic
partnerships with external vendors and service providers, such as benefits brokers and
consultants, to support and enhance these functions.
� Lead the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
� Manage HR systems and data integrity to support decision-making and reporting.
Culture & Engagement
� Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
� Champion staff appreciation and development initiatives that build internal capacity, support
career pathways, and promote retention and advancement from within the organization.
� Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture.
� Lead internal communication strategies to enhance transparency and engagement.
Team Leadership
� Supervise and mentor HR staff, promoting professional development and accountability.
� Build strong cross-functional relationships across departments.
All other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
� Bachelor�s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master�s
(preferred).
� Minimum 10 years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
� Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred.
� Deep knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance in grant-funded
environments.
� Proven success in strategic HR planning, talent management, and organizational development.
� Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
� Ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion and sound judgment.
Certifications (Preferred but not required)
� SHRM-SCP (Society for Human Resource Management � Senior Certified Professional)
� SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources)

Schedule:
This is a full-time position and typically works Monday � Friday 8:30am � 5:00pm but requires flexibility.
