Procurement Specialist – Data Center

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to manage the purchasing of equipment and materials required for the build-out of data center white space. This role will focus on sourcing and managing structured cabling, fiber optics, power distribution equipment, racks and cabinets, and other key infrastructure components critical to data center fit-outs. The ideal candidate will have prior procurement experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities and a deep understanding of OEMs, contract manufacturers, and assembly house operations.

  • This is a full-time salaried position offering competitive compensation (commensurate with experience) comprehensive benefits, paid time off, paid training and performance-based bonuses.  
  • This person should expect to be on-site at our Plano, TX office 3 to 4 days a week. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and execute procurement strategies for:
    • Structured cabling and fiber optics
    • Power distribution systems and components
    • Mechanical cooling and liquid to the chip solutions
    • Racks, cabinets, and containment solutions
    • Other materials required for white space fit-out
  • Collaborate with designers, project management, and construction teams to align procurement with technical requirements and project schedules.
  • Help with supplier negotiations to secure the best possible commercial terms, including volume discounts, favorable payment terms, and long-term agreements.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with OEMs, manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective, timely, and quality-driven procurement.
  • Manage vendor qualification, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement through supplier scorecards and quality tracking metrics.
  • Track purchase orders, deliveries, and logistics to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier agreements, and cost reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier consolidation, and process improvement.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 4+ years of procurement experience with a focus on construction, data centers, mission-critical facilities, or high-tech infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of purchasing from OEMs, contract manufacturers, and/or component assembly.
  • Demonstrated success in high-value negotiations and building strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of data center white space infrastructure, including cabling, power distribution, cooling,  racks, and enclosures.
  • Experience developing and maintaining supplier scorecards and managing vendor quality and compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools, along with strong Excel and reporting skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in procurement related to large-scale data center build-outs or hyperscale environments.
  • Experience with KPIs, such as cost savings achieved, supplier on-time delivery rates, and vendor quality metrics
  • Knowledge of international supply chain, logistics, and import/export processes.
  • Professional certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CIPS).
