We’re looking for a Toronto-based Commerce Analytics Director to help our clients navigate the dynamic, fast-changing retail media landscape. As a Commerce Analytics Lead, you play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports our analytics engineering capabilities. You work closely with data scientists, analysts, strategic planners, and other disciplines to ensure data quality and accessibility and implement best practices for data governance and security. Please note, this person must reside within a commutable distance of Mars United Commerce's Toronto office.
Part of the overall Analytics Group, this person is responsible for data modeling automation and preparing data needed by the Data Science team for modeling and the Business Analytics team for data analysis. This will involve documenting the data cleaning and transformation processes, automating these processes, ensuring data governance practices are followed, and maintaining a data catalog. The team is also responsible for developing all PowerBI dashboards based on client needs or Data Science outputs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess where APIs are unavailable, design alternate extraction or manual workflows to obtain “long-tail” retailer data.
Define business-ready metrics and KPIs for commerce performance, ensuring consistency across monthly and quarterly reports.
Pull, validate, and blend brand, retailer, and media data intoreportingdatasets; troubleshoot data gaps and quality issues proactively.
Produce and deliver the monthly commerce report, quarterly executive report, and any ad-hoc insight decks requested by TCCC.
Translate data findings into concise insights and recommendations for stakeholders.
Serve as the primary point of contact for data access questions, aligning with stakeholders on credentials and resolving any miscommunication.
Partner with engineering team to define required data sources, schema, and capture methods for commercereporting.
Build and maintain an inventory of retailer platforms that includes API endpoints, documentation links, sample code, and access credentials.
Trackreportingdeadlines, manage stakeholder expectations, and escalate blockers early to ensure on-time delivery.
Support MMM data preparation and leverage MMM outputs to drive budget planning and investment recommendations.
Build audiences in clean rooms like AMC, Walmart Clean Room for targeting and measurement.
SKILLSETS REQUIRED:
7-9 years of deep commerce or retail media analytics experience, with proven ownership of end-to-endreportingpipelines.
Strong SQL or Python for data prep, plus familiarity with API integrations and authentication flows.
Ability to translate technical data processes into clear business insights.
Comfort liaising between technical engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Applied data science skills – regression, time-series, marketing mix modeling, and other statistical techniques – with the ability to turn MMM outputs into budget and investment scenarios.
Strong data-storytelling: translate complex analysis into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
