Compensation
Note: You will maintain your current rate of pay.
 
Responsibilities
The Department of Subways, Service Delivery is seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill a vacancy in Field Operations Safety & Support.  The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare Emergency Evacuation Plans (EEPs) for RTO facilities. Supervise the related field data collection and installation of signs.
  • Collects Emergency Evacuation Device (EED) inspection forms several times each year (4 times each year for OPTO; 3 times for non-OPTO) and submit to Office of System Safety and Department of Subways Safety.
  • Collects approximately 270 Jumper Cable Box Inspection forms three times each year.
  • Prepares and submits monthly Safety Reminders to Service Delivery Managers.
  • Generates and maintains databases for the Tabletop Fire Drills.
  • Schedules Train Service Supervisors for F07 Fire Safety Course.
  • Performs Fire Drills and Safety Field Inspections.
  • Participates in the inspection of the physical structure of over 850 DOS/Service Delivery Room Enclosures and Conditions as mandated by the Structural Inspection P/I VII.E.1 and per P/I XV.E (Excluding Manholes or Emergency Exits).  
The incumbent may assist other operating departments within Service Delivery such as, but not limited to, revenue service and/or yard operations, and various projects.  In addition to writing of Bulletins, Notices, and Procedures, conducts investigations into collisions, derailments, and operating incidents by probationary employees. 
The selected candidate(s) may be required to work weekends, holidays, various tours to respond to and investigate emergencies and other responsibilities of the unit.
 
Education and Experience
At time of appointment, candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years in the title.
 
Desired Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the NYCT Rules and Regulations and Department of Subways Operating Procedures
  • Preparing clear, concise and thorough reports, memos and other written materials
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
  • Making sound recommendations and implementing them when approved
  • Exercising sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within and outside the unit
  • Representing the unit at meetings
 
Selection Method
Based on evaluation of education, skills. experience and interview. 
All appointments with the exception of Department of Subways employees on MaBSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
