POSITION SUMMARY:

Manage day-to-day logistics operations of stockroom, inventory management, transportation, reverse logistics, and billing. Manage ordering process for all frames, lenses and other equipment. Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained and coordinate execution of the inventory verification process. Administer operation of the lab management system and serve as the primary contact. Ensure all billing to centers and from vendors is correct. Ensure compliance with all governmental, safety and company rules and regulations. Lead change and drive continuous improvement at the Optical Lab.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

LOGISTICS OPERATIONS

• Supervise, coach, and train the logistics team

• Plan and manage logistics, transportation, and customer service

• Direct, optimize, and coordinate the full order cycle

• Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers

• Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transportation costs, and efficiency

• Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes, and process shipments

• Resolve any problems or complaints that may arise

• Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements

•Maintain open communication with internal and external stakeholders

• Maintain proper staffing, inventory, and flow to meet production demands of all departments

• Ensure stockroom activities are executed correctly on a timely basis to support Lab, Store and Vendor partners  

• Ensure effective communication between all production departments and shifts                              

• Partner with supply chain and finance departments to ensure all inventory process related activities are performed correctly

• Lead coordination and execution of stockroom and lab inventory process

• Partner with lab management on the interviewing, hiring and training of new teammates

• Analyze logistics operations and workflow to develop process enhancements

• Achieve measurable Key Performance Indicator (KPI’s) improvements

 

TRAINING AND IMPROVEMENT

• Embrace involvement to ensure teammates receive applicable Optical Lab training to perform all aspects of their job including safe and efficient equipment operations in addition to work and safety procedures as outlined in their respective job description

• Engage in ongoing research to remain up to date on new technologies in production and for possible implementation

• Partner with production leads for input on teammate’s performance reviews and development plans

• Provide production leads and teammates with ongoing performance feedback

• Implement measures to motivate teammates and to improve morale, production methods, efficiency, equipment performance, productivity and product quality

• Foster an inclusive culture for all teammates at the Optical Lab

MAINTAIN SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ensure teammates follow all Optical Lab and company policies and adhere to safety related guidelines and OSHA regulations

• Ensure machinery is operating safely and effectively

• Ensure teammates perform stretching before reporting to workstation

 

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Graduate or equivalent

• Minimum 5 years management / hands on leadership experience. Optical manufacturing environment or production environment preferred

• Inventory/Warehouse Management Systems experience preferred

• Exceptional organizational skills

• Interpersonal skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication

• Able to read and write at a high school graduate level

• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time

• Able to operate various Optical Lab equipment and office equipment

• Demonstrate physical agility (bending, climbing, twisting, squatting, lifting, pushing, reaching, etc.) on a repetitive basis

• Able to lift an average of 25-35 pounds on a repetitive basis and up to 75 pounds

• Able to see (Near, Distance, Color, and Depth Perception)

• Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand/arm steadiness

• Able to grip and hold items

• Good eye and hand coordination

• Able to work in a fast-paced production environment

• Ability to perform work in various departments within the lab based on business needs

• Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines

• Able to travel independently to support company objectives and personal development
