POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Designer is responsible for designing and drafting engineering drawings to support document update requirements of the facility.  This position is responsible to update drawings/ reports related to Management of Change (MOC) and create new drawings as required to support activities such as Capital Projects, Maintenance Planning, Inspection drawings, P&IDs etc. Services required are time critical and will require excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Revise as-built drawings from marked up documents created under MOC process such as P&IDs, ISOs, etc.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and models (P&IDs, piping layouts, electrical schematics, civil/structural plans, etc.) using CAD software. 
  • Coordinate with engineers and other departments to ensure drawings meet specifications and schedules.
  • Apply industry codes and standards to design work.
  • Maintain revision control of drawings and ensure proper documentation in data management systems.
  • Provide support to other departments with drafting needs such a capital projects, inspection isometrics, electrical schematics, maintenance and turnaround planning as required. 

  • Assigns tag numbers for equipment, instrumentation, electrical equipment, process line numbers, etc.
  • Thinking creatively and critically to support Drafting and the Engineering Services Team.
  • Work with engineers and project managers to clarify requirements and specifications.
  • Capable of field verifying questionable items on drawings if required.
  • Creating accurate CAD drawings from hand sketches, verbal instructions, and field visits.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

 

Knowledge:

Ability to design and draft in all disciplines. Have knowledge in the design and drafting of industrial oil and gas manufacturing environment including P&ID’s, PFD’s and construction drawings and as built drawings as it applies to electrical, mechanical, civil, instrumentation engineering and maintenance.  Ability to interact design and drawings within multiple management systems such as CREW, Documentum, SharePoint, Maximo, PCMS, MOC Systems, and similar management platforms.  Has a well-rounded knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

  • Effective communicator at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.

  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Computer knowledge, including AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

 

Education, Training and Certifications: Associate degree in Drafting/Design or relevant technical discipline OR equivalent work experience.

 

Experience

 

 

Minimum of five (5)+ years of experience as a Designer or Drafter in an oil and gas, petrochemical, LNG or similar industrial setting. Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation software is required. Experience with DOT/FERC regulations and the LNG manufacturing process is preferred.

The Drafter / Designer requires minimal supervision. 

 

WORK CONDITIONS 

  • Job is performed in an industrial plant environment. 
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • Limited travel required, as business conditions dictate.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, smell, type and write. 
  • Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise. There is a considerable number of outdoor activities involved. 
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
  • Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid and CPR.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
