What The Role Entails
Wind Operations Manager leads day-to-day operations and maintenance at a wind farm, overseeing staff and contractors, ensuring safety, managing budgets and performance, and maintaining regulatory and landowner relationships to keep turbines running efficiently and safely. Key duties include scheduling maintenance, troubleshooting issues, monitoring operations data, coordinating outages, administering contracts, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
What You Will Get to Do
• Operations & Maintenance: Supervise all aspects of wind farm maintenance, including preventative maintenance, repairs, and coordinating outages.
• Team Leadership: Hire, train, and manage on-site employees and subcontractors to ensure quality work and adherence to safety standards.
• Safety & Compliance: Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and environmental regulations to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
• Performance Monitoring: Track and manage wind farm performance data, addressing issues and implementing improvements to maximize output and efficiency.
• Budget & Administration: Prepare and manage operational budgets, order parts and equipment, and administer site contracts.
• Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with landowners, customers, and local authorities.
• Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to staff and resolve on-site technical issues.
What You Bring to The Role
• A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience working in an electrical, mechanical, or related technical field
• Professional experience in operations, maintenance, or site supervision within the renewable energy sector.
• Experience in motivating, coaching, and managing teams.
• Understanding of wind turbine technology, operations, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of safety programs, practices, and procedures relevant to wind farms.
• Experience with budget development, cost estimation, and financial oversight.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to ensure continuous operations.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with employees, management, landowners, and regulatory bodies.
