About the Role
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will:
- Operate heavy equipment to perform preventative and emergency maintenance on the city's sanitary sewer system.
 - Maintain and service all associated sewer maintenance equipment.
 - Complete daily work logs, sanitary sewer overflow reports, and required documentation for internal and state reporting.
 - Supervise and evaluate the work of a Vactor Helper on the crew.
 - Perform heavy lifting, climbing, bending, and stooping in physically demanding conditions.
 - Serve in an on-call rotation and respond to emergencies and inclement weather conditions as needed.
 
What We Need:
- Experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in sewer maintenance or a similar field.
 - Strong leadership skills to direct and evaluate team members.
 - Ability to perform physical tasks in demanding outdoor environments.
 - Willingness to work on-call and in emergency situations.

Position Duties
 
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- "OR" combination of 3 years of education along with 4+ years of directly related work experience
 
 - Valid Class "B" Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement
 - 1 or more years of experience operating Heavy Equipment (Combo Cleaning Trucks, Rodder Trucks, etc.)
 
- Prior Leadership Experience
 - NCAWWA Grade 2 or higher Collections Certification

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday; 6:15 am - 4:45 pm (10 hr shifts)
