The *Corporate Events Planner is responsible for the planning and execution of corporate events.  In addition, the incumbent is responsible for events with agents and employees from concept to finish. This position involves building and maintaining relationships with the independent agency system, vendors, senior management, underwriters, and MEMIC employees. 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate logistics for corporate events such as agency council, MEMIC week, and regional meetings, including contract negotiations, guest lists, venue preparation, presentation materials, security, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, decor, marketing materials and ensure adherence with legal, insurance, health, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Department on all corporate events to ensure that objectives are met.
  • Proactively address all issues that arise leading up to or on day of the event. Communicate concerns to Director, Marketing & Public Relations as needed.  
  • Develop annual budget for events using cost estimates and manage annual events to ensure compliance with budget.
  • Work closely with internal and external business partners to understand business objectives and ensure they are met for events.
  • Conduct pre and post event assessments and reports on outcomes through surveying key stakeholders. 
  • Select, procure, and distribute gifts, MEMIC swag, clothing and convention marketing items as coordinated with Director, Marketing and Public Relations.
  • Attend events, meetings and conventions both in person and virtually and produce event-related reports for Director, Marketing & Public Relations and SVP, Strategy & Communications.
  • Remain current on trends in event planning, design, and production, and proactively identify and solve operational challenges by attending approved workshops and trainings.

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of three years of event planning experience is required.
  • Property & casualty insurance industry knowledge preferred.
  • Proficient in typing and PC skills, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must possess superior interpersonal skills to create an inviting space for both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned work, perform tasks, manage and maintain records, meet deadlines, work independently and manage multiple events concurrently.
  • Must be a team player, highly focused and maintain professionalism at all levels. 
  • Must provide superior customer service to internal and external clients at all times.
  • Extensive travel is required.
