The Seafreight Pricing and Tender Manager – USA is responsible for leading the U.S. Seafreight Pricing Team and overseeing all pricing activities across import, export, FCL, LCL, drayage, and trucking. This role ensures competitive, accurate, and timely quotations for national, regional, and global tenders, while driving efficiency, compliance, and profitability in alignment with company strategy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the U.S. Seafreight Pricing Team, ensuring timely and accurate handling of spot quotations and large-scale tenders.
  • Effectively distribute workload, monitor team performance, and maintain adequate staffing levels to support business needs.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Sales, Account Management, Opportunity Management (OMT), overseas offices/agents, U.S. branches, and Trade Lane Management (TLM).
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce KPIs for quoting effectiveness, follow-up, and service quality.
  • Analyze root causes of service or performance issues, implementing corrective measures as required.
  • Ensure compliance by authorizing quotations only when qualifying requirements have been met.
  • Collaborate with product leadership to define pricing strategies for non-standard services and adjust pricing parameters to optimize win ratios, margins, and efficiency.
  • Support the execution of global, regional, and trade lane commercial strategies, including adherence to carrier allocation policies.
  • Direct volumes toward preferred carriers in alignment with TLM guidance.
  • Oversee talent development, succession planning, and training within the Pricing Team, including annual performance reviews.
  • Conduct weekly performance and strategy review meetings with Pricing and Trade Lane teams.
  • Own and manage the PPQ (Pricing, Procurement, Quotation) system, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and system enhancements for the U.S. market.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure rates, terms, and conditions comply with FMC regulations and internal standards.
  • Maintain Pelorus tariff conditions, including demurrage/detention, per diem, chassis usage, and related charges.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Seafreight USA.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in international seafreight operations (import/export, FCL/LCL).
  • Extensive background in seafreight pricing across multiple trade lanes and forwarding services.
  • At least 5 years of management or supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Proven experience managing pricing for large-scale, multi-lane, multi-national RFQs.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. import/export regulations, including FMC compliance (NRA/NSA).
  • Knowledge of trucking, drayage, intermodal pricing, and inland logistics.
  • P&L management experience required.
  • Hazmat certification a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, decision-making, and influencing across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with digital pricing tools and AI-driven applications a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of carrier contracts, container types/limitations, chassis management, bunker formulas, and margin structures.
  • Established network and strong relationships with carriers and vendors.
