Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Full Time Position: 40 hours per week on-site

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 depending on experience and education

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, LTD, and 401(k)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 5:00 pm


The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Must have 5+ years experience providing full life cycle administrative support in Human Resources. Strong organizational skills, time management, customer service, and high attention to detail is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel). Ability to manage confidential, time sensitive information is a must.


Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC), the property management company for Leisure World of Maryland, is a private, age-restricted community comprised of 29 community associations representing over 5,600 homes and extensive Trust operations, located in Silver Spring, Maryland. We are seeking a highly motivated detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to support the Human Resources Team. This position will play a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources Department in various administrative and operational tasks, such as recruitment, on-boarding of new hires, full life cycle duties, employee records management, performance management, benefits administration, rewards & recognition programs, and general HR administrative functions.


Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

Recruitment and On-boarding/Off-boarding:

  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and conducting initial candidate screenings.
  • Coordinate pre-employment checks, including background checks and reference verifications.
  • On-boarding of all new hires (orientation, set-up in HRIS system, benefits, time and attendance system).
  • Off-boarding duties.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees related to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.

Performance Management:

  • Establishes introductory and annual evaluation dates for employees and tracks the review dates.
  • Accurately enters increases into the HRIS system.

Employee Records Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files and HR databases.
  • Ensure compliance with record-keeping regulations and confidentiality of sensitive HR information.
  • Assist with data entry and record maintenance in HR systems.

Benefits Administration:

  • Support benefits enrollment and provides assistance to employees with benefit-related inquiries.
  • Assist in organizing open enrollment and benefits information sessions.
  • Collaborate with HR team to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits-related paperwork.

HRIS Systems:

  • Assists with data entry and record maintenance in HRIS systems.
  • Processes and maintains accurate up-to-date employee records, including, but not limited to, all employee life cycle changes, new hires, transfers, promotions, status, demographic changes, LOA's, salary adjustments and terminations, including personnel files and HRIS databases.

Safety/Welfare/Wellness/Health:

  • Responsible for the compliance and daily administration and coordination of programs such as unemployment benefits administration, and workers compensation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Five (5)+ years experience providing administrative support in Human Resources.
  • High degree of professionalism and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work without close supervision, exercising independent judgment and problem-solving, as well as collaborating in a team environment.
  • Strong customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multitask.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems).
