Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement: The Assistant Director of Compliance collaborates with other Compliance staff to oversee all processes, procedures, and systems required for the department to comply with NCAA and conference rules and regulations at an NCAA Division I FBS member institution. The Assistant Director of Compliance will work collaboratively with Athletics Department staff, coaches, student-athletes, prospects, and various external constituents to ensure compliance with NCAA and Big Ten regulations.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Monitor the awarding of athletic financial aid to ensure that institutional and NCAA maximums are not exceeded.
Draft NCAA and Big Ten waivers and reports.
Provide NCAA and Big Ten rule interpretations.
Collaborate in coordinating and administering rules education for administrators, coaches, support staff, student-athletes, and booster groups.
May manage a team of professional or support staff.
Oversee the Opendorse platform.
Point of contact for Olympic sport coaches, student-athletes, and third-party entities for day-to-day NIL opportunities (e.g., apparel providers, EA sports, licensing and facilities requests, department NIL policies).
Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: The work is performed in an office setting, requiring proficiency in using standard office equipment and keyboards. You need to be capable of lifting and transporting small parcels, packages, and other items, covering short walks, and operating a vehicle to transport and retrieve materials.

Licenses/ Certifications: NA

Preferences: Prior experience in an athletic department or high-demand office environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience in NCAA compliance or athletics administration.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of policies, rules, and regulations governing the Big Ten conference.

Knowledge of athletic policies, procedures, and regulations.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workplace products.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
