WHERE YOU FIT IN
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in retail energy to join the Load and Gross Profit Analytics team that is responsible for insuring the load forecast, position reporting and gross profit properly reflect the companies commitments to its customers and wholesale counterparties. Our team reports the daily explanations of changes due to customer adds, drops, load and contract changes and hedges to insure that the gross profit forecasts are accurate. We review the reported daily positions at an hourly level. We reconcile invoices with our trading counterparties. We report actual gross profit for each delivery month in each market and reconcile the actuals against our forecast to provide feedback to other teams. We also use actual costs to ensure that our cost is passed-through correctly to customers based on their contractual product configuration. We review product design, load and cost inputs and hedge strategies for accuracy and effectiveness.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that the operational activities (i.e. adds, drops, product changes, etc.) are correctly reflected in our term position and gross profit forecast and all changes are fully explained.
- Ensure that load forecasts are as accurate as possible by monitoring error rates and obtain load data necessary to improve the forecasts.
- Reconcile bilateral invoices.
- Report actual gross profit by compiling revenue and actual costs and compare against forecasted profit.
- Ensure gross profit forecasts are accurately calculating revenue and costs incorporating load forecasts, cost curves, product structures, trades and contractual commitments.
- Ensure that our cost is passed-through correctly to customers based on their market and product configuration.
- Provide feedback for the accuracy of the forward curves managed by Portfolio Management team.
- Provide feedback for the effectiveness of the hedges executed by Portfolio Management team.
- Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- 3-5 years of Retail Energy Settlements, Gross Profit, Risk or Pricing experience in ERCOT, PJM, ISONE, NYISO, MISO and/or CAISO.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; must be able to provide timely and accurate data analysis.
- Strong business writing skills and experience developing communication in various formats.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong SQL and Excel skills.
- Python experience is beneficial.
- Learner mindset and eye for continuous improvement needs.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships.
- Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge.
- Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving and follow-up skills.

Location & work SCHEDULE
- Required to be in-person in Houston, TX through a hybrid workplace environment.
