ABOUT THE MHRA LABORATORIES AT LGC :
Under contract to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), LGC hosts and operates the UK’s combined Official Medicines Control Laboratory (OMCL) for chemical testing and the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) Commission Laboratory.
The work of The MHRA Laboratories at LGC helps the MHRA protect public health by ensuring that medicines and healthcare products are safe for those who use them. The laboratories are operated under a Government Owned, Contractor Operated (GOCO) model at our site in Guildford.
Our work ensures safety of medicines to protect the public.
Job Description:We are seeking a part-time (25 hours per week) Administrator to join our team in Guildford, Surrey. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the MHRA laboratories' operations and ensuring that core administrative processes are harmonised and delivered efficiently.
- Receiving, registering, returning and safe storage of samples
- Supporting the management of stock levels ensuring an accurate record is maintained
- Complete quarterly and yearly stock counts as required
- Recording and organise office documentation, both physical and digital
- Handle incoming phone calls, emails, and correspondence in a professional manner
- Schedule meetings and appointments, maintaining an up-to-date calendar
- Coordinate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and task completion
- Providing general support to the team, including managing and distributing post, answering telephones and other administrative tasks (e.g. archiving)
- Maintain office and the laboratories supplies inventory and place orders when necessary
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths (Required)
- Previous administrative experience (preferred)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
- Exceptional time management skills
- Customer service-oriented with a professional demeanour
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
