As a Software Engineer on our AI Services team, you will focus on designing, building, and scaling the core components of our Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and advanced search platform. You will be a key contributor to a small, expert-led team, responsible for turning backlog items into robust, production-ready solutions. If you're a passionate developer who flourishes in a fast-moving, agile environment, this role is for you. We're looking for someone with the ability to translate requirements into functional Python code with a strong attention to quality and performance. You will report to the Director of AI Engineering.
You Will:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable pipelines for ingesting documents from diverse data sources.
- Implement and optimize indexing strategies for various vector stores and search indices.
- Build and enhance APIs that enable advanced search functionalities, including semantic, hybrid, and keyword search.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code, adhering to team conventions and best practices.
- Develop a high degree of test coverage for all new and existing code, including unit, integration, and functional tests.
- Collaborate closely with ML experts to integrate and productionize new models and algorithms into the platform.
- Containerize applications using Docker and ensure they are ready for deployment in our cloud environment.
You Have:
- Strong Python proficiency and demonstrated experience building and maintaining applications in Python.
- A firm grasp of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and writing clean, modular code.
- Hands-on experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, preferably with frameworks like FastAPI or Flask.
- A strong belief in the value of testing with practical experience using frameworks like pytest.
- Proficiency with Docker for building and running applications.
- The ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks and deliver solutions iteratively.
You Have an Advantage If:
- You have direct, hands-on experience with RAG frameworks; LlamaIndex is highly desirable, and LangChain is a plus.
- You have experience with search technologies like Elasticsearch and vector stores like Pinecone, Weaviate, or Chroma.
- You are familiar with a major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- You have a foundational understanding of how Large Language Models (LLMs) and embedding models work.
