The Role
The Director of Kindy is responsible for leading the delivery of a high-quality early childhood program that supports children’s learning and development in accordance with the National Quality Framework (NQF), the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the Education and Care Services Act 2013, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations. This role provides both strategic and operational leadership, ensuring compliance while mentoring staff, engaging families, and driving continuous improvement to achieve outstanding outcomes. The Director also carries the statutory responsibilities of Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader for the service.
Where you’ll make an impact
- Lead and manage daily operations of the Kindy programs
- Ensure compliance with the Education & Care Services Act 2013 and all HIE policies
- Drive educational policies and implement learning programs to prepare children for school
- Audit learning outcomes and compliance quarterly, ensuring continuous improvement
- Oversee enrolments, staffing, rosters, budgets, and financial records to achieve service goals
- Mentor and support group leaders and educators through training and performance development
- Maintain safe, clean, and engaging environments for children and staff
- Manage food safety programs, menu planning, and stock control processes
- Build strong relationships with families, internal stakeholders, regulators and the community
What we’re looking for

To be successful, you will need
- Bachelor of Education (Primary) and minimum 7 years’ experience in early education
- Current QLD Teacher Registration and Blue Card (Essential)
- Current First Aid & CPR (HLTAID012 or equivalent)
- QLD Child Protection & Abuse Prevention Education (Essential)
- Knowledge of Education and Care Services National Regulations, National Quality Framework and National Quality Standards, Early Years Learning Framework, WPH&S Act (Essential)
- National Police Check
- Working with Children’s Check
- National Personal Insolvency Index
- Evidence that the person is not on ASIC’s banned and disqualified register
- A current and historical personal name extract search of ASIC records
- Experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 6 years
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Previous management experience in an education setting (Desirable)
