The role:
Join our dedicated team at our Yamba prawn farm on the beautiful NSW North Coast. We are seeking a practical and hardworking Pond Technician for an immediate start. This is a hands-on, outdoor role perfect for those who enjoy physical work and being part of a team that produces high-quality, sustainable prawns.
This is a full-time, 6-month contract position concluding in May 2026, operating on a 4/3 rotating roster. Based at our Yamba farm, you will play a key role in daily operations—monitoring prawn health, maintaining water quality, and ensuring the smooth running of all farm activities. The role is physically demanding and includes general maintenance of the farm grounds.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily farm operations, including pond remediation, feeding, aeration, and water qaulity monitoring.
- Support prawn health assessments and biosecurity practices to ensure optimal growth conditions.
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the farm grounds and infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate farm records using iPads and digital systems.
- Operate farm equipment and machinery, including tractors (training provided).
- Follow all food safety, environmental, and workplace safety protocols (Zero Harm culture).
Role requirements:
- Physically fit and not shy of hard work; able to work in hot, humid, and wet environments (including entering ponds when required).
- Strong observational skills with great attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and adaptable to a 4/3 rotating roster.
- Hold a driver’s licence and have reliable transport to the site.
- Comfortable using iPads for digital record-keeping.
- Tractor operation experience is highly regarded.
- A team player with a passion for hands-on work and an unwavering commitment to safety.
