Wood is currently recruiting for a Field Analyst (Troubleshooting) in Houston, TX to manage projects effectively to ensure on time delivery of the projects, within scope and budget, while meeting client’s expectations.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
Employing entity: BMA Solutions Inc.
Multiple positions available
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
Travel: Up to 45% travel to client sites required within the U.S. (both onshore and offshore). Up to 5% travel required to South America.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage projects effectively to ensure on time delivery of the projects, within scope and budget, while meeting client’s expectations.
- Review proposal, previous reports, and customer information prior to kick-off of new project. Ensure project follow-up is effective.
- Provide feedback on improvement in processes and procedures. Provide input into growth strategies, including companywide initiatives.
- Ensure good communication with the client, including project updates, scope changes, and additional budget requirements, and that project trackers are kept up to date.
- Schedule and execute internal/external kick-off meetings.
- Ensure administrative processes and systems such as timekeeping, work instructions, scheduling, and documentation control are maintained.
- Mentor new staff and participate in training junior analysts.
- Perform core field engineering troubleshooting on piping systems, structures, reciprocating and centrifugal machinery, gearboxes, motors, and other plant equipment for onshore and offshore facilities.
- Perform vibration analysis by acquiring vibration data using data acquisition hardware similar to Benstone, imc, scout, and others, and their software applications.
- Provide machinery analysis services including pulsation modeling and mechanical analysis.
- Leverage advanced signal processing and vibration data analysis skills for vibration troubleshooting.
- Apply knowledge of rotating machinery design and failure modes and piping and small-bore excitation mechanisms, such as FIV, FIT, and STA.
- Write technical reports with actionable recommendations where possible on thorough data analysis and engineering principles and experience.
- Present these reports to client.
- Assist on troubleshooting projects that require exploring new concepts and tools.
- Identify opportunities at site beyond the current project and share that information with the team lead.
- Build and maintain customer relationships necessary for effective client communication and opportunity growth.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 3 years of related work experience.
Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience in the following:
- Selecting and using specialized sensors to collect vibration signals and applying algorithms to recognize patterns, diagnose the source of failures, and facilitate corrective actions;
- Identifying where to collect data on machinery systems including driver, driven, piping, SBC, and structure;
- Performing data analysis to identify the cause of high vibration and providing recommendations to mitigate the vibration amplitudes for safe operation;
- Performing time domain and frequency domain analysis, envelop analysis, and modal analysis;
- Performing signal processing data acquisition system setup to capture the data appropriate for the machine with correct sampling rate, frequency span, resolution, and windowing factor;
- Identifying good and bad signal, time waveforms, spectral data, orbits, and shaft center line plots;
- Collecting good data and interpreting the data for diagnostic purposes;
- Utilizing rotating and reciprocating machinery, including reciprocating compressors and engines, screw compressors, plunger pumps, centrifugal pumps, fans, blowers, gearboxes, motors, and turbines, and applying knowledge of design basics to identify the forces generated by these machines, their failure modes, and troubleshooting vibration and performance related issues; and
- Troubleshooting, including process and operating data response on the machinery and piping systems and identifying machinery failure modes and excitation forces generated in the system.
