Title: Custodian
Status: Regular, Part Time (West 7th Street Community Center)
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reporting Relationship: Facilities and Operations Manager
Program/Department: Management - 600
Salary Range: $17.50/hourly
Position Description:
A Custodian supports the management of the agency through the provision of general maintenance/janitorial services in order to provide a clean, safe, and secure environment. This position works primarily at our West 7th Street Community Center along with other Keystone locations as needed. Sets up rooms and performs equipment maintenance and repairs as necessary or required at all sites.
Anticipated working hours for this position would be from 8am – 12pm from Monday through Friday.
Essential Functions:
85% Janitorial
- Cleans daily following a regular schedule: sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpets, clean bathrooms, clean windows, empty wastebaskets, dispose of trash and replenish supplies.
- Set-up rooms for meetings, events, programs and services.
- Recycle and dispose of materials as required.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and doorways when necessary.
- Shampoo carpets as necessary.
10% Facility Operations
- Perform grounds clean-up when necessary.
- Perform general maintenance and repair functions in order to maintain the facilities and equipment in safe, and efficient working order.
- Change light bulbs.
- Attend all staff meetings as required.
5% Other
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
- Must maintain punctual and reliable attendance.
Qualification Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Must be task oriented and able to establish and follow routines.
- Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid MN driver’s license, current insurance and acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to perform work independently, but be able to work as a team member and relate to other staff, vendors, clients, building tenants and facility users.
Qualification Preferences:
- General understanding of Janitorial, general maintenance, and repairs.
- Knowledge and ability to perform general and varied janitorial duties.
- Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
