Summary:
Summit Ridge Energy (“SRE”) is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Manager(s) in the execution and successful commissioning and completion of the company's projects, specifically solar PV and energy storage projects. The Project Engineer will take the lead role in managing and solving technical challenges related to the design, engineering, procurement, construction, quality control, energy modeling, and performance testing of projects and systems.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Work and act safely to protect yourself, workers, and property, as there are inherent risks associated with the design, construction, and operation of energy projects.
- Support the execution and delivery of projects by supporting the project team.
- Support the cross-functional project teams, including development, design, construction management, project finance, safety, quality control, procurement, interconnection, asset management, and other functions as needed.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to determine project metrics, performance, and goals.
- Communicate and coordinate with clients and partners (upstream) and contractors, consultants, and outside developers (downstream) to support successful project execution.
- Communicate with clients, designers, project managers, field superintendents and Independent Engineers as required throughout the project life cycle: development stage, EPC contractor procurement, EPC contract execution, testing and commissioning, and transition to Asset Management for operation of the project.
- Support business decisions including risk and decision assessment through analysis, schedules, cost, and performance in context of project goals and metrics and the overall goals of the company.
- Review project contract conditions and support project compliance.
- Prepare written and verbal reports of project progress and activities.
- Support the implementation and compliance with various agreements, including energy offtaker agreements (power purchase agreements), Utility Interconnection Agreements, Lease Agreements, and EPC Agreements with Contractors.
- Travel to project sites and development sites as determined by the Manager.
- Learn and use energy modelling applications like PVSyst and Homer.
- Learn and use project data acquisition system platforms such as Power Track by ALSO Energy.
- Learn and effectively use Procore for project management, including document control, cost control, schedule control, quality control, reporting, and collaboration with contractors and partners.
- Learn and effectively use Salesforce for reporting key project metrics and documents for use by the company.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Ability to support projects from start to finish in a challenging and autonomous environment
- Strong interest in solar energy and energy storage projects and operations
- 4-year college degree required in STEM field: science, technology, engineering, math.
- One to three years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- High-level analytical skills related to energy modeling and cost analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and creative skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
- Ability to embrace innovation and change, and belief that there is always room for improvement.
- Ability to operate a vehicle and drive to project sites, which may be several hours away from the primary work location.
- Ability to complete the OSHA 10-hour training course.

Work Environment: This job typically operates in a professional office environment, but will also be expected to visit active construction sites. In the office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets, and teleconferencing software. On a construction site, this employee will be exposed to outdoor climates and could be exposed to loud noises associated with the construction process.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds. The employee may encounter extended periods of being on an active construction site, which may include climbing ladders, standing or walking on uneven ground. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel, bend; and reach with hands and arms.
