Position Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Professional will collaborate with the site EHS Manager to lead safety and compliance initiatives on an active construction site. This role will be responsible for maintaining EHS programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety for employees, contractors, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial projects, critical infrastructure, or high-tech environments. The EHS Professional should be well-versed in industry regulations, have strong leadership skills, and be dedicated to cultivating a culture of safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee site EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
- Coordinate and oversee training programs to educate employees on necessary safety protocols and regulations.
- Periodically evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as needed.
- Enforce and implement risk mitigation strategies, including emergency response plans.
- Investigate and document any accidents, near-misses, or other incidents.
- Stay updated with relevant EHS regulations and industry standards.
- Assist the site EHS Manager by ensuring activities are compliant with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
- Prepared for and helped coordinate responsibilities regarding audits from regulatory agencies.
- Track, analyze, and report on EHS metrics to monitor performance.
- Make recommendations to the site EHS Manager based on analysis and trends.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including subcontractors, vendors, and industry groups.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to job functions.
- Participate in required training sessions and safety briefings.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- 2 years of field EHS experience in critical facilities, construction, or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant safety standards.
- OSHA 510 or 511 REQUIRED
- Experience with contractor safety programs and vendor management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations.
- Proficiency in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
