In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

Through the Federal Work Study Program, students are to be compensated to perform a Cabaret style show at a variety of non-profit institutions such as hospitals, assisted living centers, and schools. Cabaret performances are designed to be very portable and flexible.

(The Cabaret is available to perform at other Conservatory functions, but will not be compensated through the work-programs and will accept these jobs at the discretion of the director. These performances are separate from the original mission of the Cabaret and are in no way the responsibility of the supervisor in charge of the Cabaret.)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for performances by learning music and choreography set by Directors and Musical Director.
  • Attend weekly rehearsals on time and ready to rehearse. Weekly rehearsals will be held on Sundays 6-8 PM.
  • Participate in performances booked through the Conservatory Connections program.
  • Attend any additional meetings called by the Director or the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.
  • Represent the Conservatory at all performances in a responsible and mature manner.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Musical Theater Major or A Voice Major with Dance Experience.
  • Must have a wide variety of Musical Theater repertoire
  • Must represent the Conservatory in a professional manner
  • Must be available for occasional weekend performances.
  • Must be available for Sunday Rehearsal time 6-8 PM.
