About the Role

The Morningstar DBRS U.S. RMBS team is looking for a Senior Analyst to join the Global Structured Finance team in New York, New York.

The successful candidate will conduct the full range of activities required to assign new ratings for U.S. residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) transactions, as well as other relevant rating actions. The role requires strong analytical and quantitative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

The ideal candidate will also possess the interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills necessary to engage effectively with professionals at all levels, including external stakeholders. This position offers significant opportunities to build structured finance expertise in a client-facing environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze credit and legal aspects of RMBS transactions, including collateral, deal structure, and documentation.
  • Focus on key credit issues during the new issue rating process.
  • Perform transaction analysis and present findings to the rating committee.
  • Review banker cash flow models and provide feedback on structural aspects of transactions.
  • Participate in criteria development and enhancements of structured finance models.
  • Produce and publish newsletters with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in meetings with bankers, investors, and originators

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience, preferably within banking, accounting, or structured finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Personable, eager to learn, organized, deadline-driven, and systems-oriented.
  • Cash flow structuring experience.
  • General structured finance experience.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in finance, math, economics, computer science or any other related field.
  • VBA, Python, or other basic programming skills.

Base Salary Compensation Range

$90,000.00 - 120,000.00 USD Annual

Incentive Target Percentage

15% Annual
