LOCATION: District Administration
POSITION SUMMARY: Principal Coach will work with Secondary Administrators on building their capabilities in the areas continuous improvement, Instructional leadership, culture and systems an effective manner that supports school focused outcomes and the goals of the district
SALARY: Stipend
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months, 260 Days REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Executive Director of Schools
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in education
Seven (7) years of administrative experience with progressively responsible duties in school administration
Four (4) years of successful principal experience
Valid Pennsylvania School Principal Certification or equivalent covering educational leadership or administration and supervision
Proven experience successfully managing school-based functions and staff in an upper-level leadership capacity preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Clear and concise oral, written, and public communication skills; leadership and strategic thinking skills; analytical, organizational, and management skills
Knowledge and ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local statutes, laws, regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and current research-based best practices governing public education and the functional area of assignment
Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention
Knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of project management, planning, training, budgeting, and supervision
Ability to analyze data and use data-driven decision making to implement effective programs
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor during stressful and highly visible situations
Ability to motivate, lead, and challenge a diverse team and establish objectives and action plans to achieve District goals
Ability to demonstrate expertise in school leadership
Organizational, leadership, and managerial skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Work collaboratively with principals to build a capacity to increase student achievement, managerial, and coaching skills
Develop, coordinate, and/or provide professional development opportunities
Develop, coordinate, and provide job-embedded professional development
Support by providing information, mentoring, and modeling and problem-solving strategies
Design, select, modify, and evaluate research-based instructional strategies that reflect core standards, curriculum goals, and the interests, motivation and needs of adult student learners
Provide the principal with regular updates on content-specific professional development and teacher needs
Provide broadminded, specific, and constructive feedback and advice
Interpret data to guide teaching, learning, and managerial decision making
Develop, manage, coordinate, and deliver leadership development
Evaluate diverse learning activities related to improving leadership in terms of their impact on quality of implementation and quality of outcomes for students
Create opportunities for school leaders to collaborate and learn from one another
Plan and direct a system of feedback and assessment of the effectiveness of training and development programs
Serve with other educational leaders on work groups, committees, and project action teams that directly support schools
Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current trends and best practices regarding educational leadership and technology training at District, State, and National levels
Generate creative solutions to District challenges
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Attend staff meetings and participate in conferences and other trainings to enhance job performance
Seek out professional development opportunities and maintain professional licensure and certifications
Promote the District’s interest in increasing student achievement by working with the educational interests of students in mind at all times
Maintain positive communication with colleagues, community members, parents and students to promote an increase in community engagement in education
Support the retention of Highly Effective and Effective employees by exhibiting professionalism and making positive contributions to workplace morale
Promote culture of high performance and continuous improvement by valuing learning and making a commitment to quality
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Demands: Physical requirements are the same as those encountered in the course of a typical professional office environment
Work Environment: School and office with frequent travel among schools, and various locations within the City of Erie. Occasional travel to relevant professional conferences and meetings outside of the District
