  Food Service Director

  Regular, part-time
 3.5 hours per day

 POSITION SUMMARY:            
  To perform various tasks related to a school food service operation including
 financial transactions and assisting with food preparation as needed.
 
  
 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:         
  - Helps maintain a pleasant and congenial atmosphere within the cafeteria and among co-workers.
- Cooperates with food service supervisor and the principal to properly coordinate the food service program so that it may be an asset to the overall educational process.
- Maintains accurate records of transactions and successfully balances cash drawer daily.
- Can accurately identify meals that qualify for the USDA federal reimbursement.
- Assist with the receipt of deliveries. Helps put away all food, supplies and maintains proper storage procedures.
- Assist in the daily cleaning of the kitchen.
- Operates kitchen equipment so that proper preparation of food is obtained.
- Takes the initiative to perform routine tasks independently.
- Follow state and local health and safety regulations for the proper handling and storage of food and the cleaning of cafeteria equipment.   
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  - Observe all other safety and health regulations of the school district.
- Maintain an appropriate personal appearance.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Food Service Director.
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  - High School diploma or G.E.D., preferred 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
  - Practical experience in food preparation with the ability to accurately measure, weigh and adjust recipe ingredients.
- Ability to lift cartons and/or boxes of food items and supplies, which may weigh as much as 35 pounds.
- Must have strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to operate cash registers, calculators and adding machines.
- Basic computer skills.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: 
  - Kitchen equipment; for example, dishwashers, ovens, slicers, steam kettles. 
- Office machines, such as calculators, computers, word processors, adding machines. 
- Cash register. 
- Calculator. 
- Adding machine. 
WORKING CONDITIONS: 
  - Frequent use of noisy and hazardous kitchen equipment. 
- Requirement to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. 
- Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning and disinfecting. 
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold. 
- Repetitive hand motions are used in such activities as stirring, assembling, and scooping. 
- Work hours may be extended occasionally, in order to complete an essential job or to comply with rules regarding bank deposits. 
- Potential exposure to unruly children. 
- Potential exposure to blood or other bodily fluids and tissue. 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 
  - Length of Employment: One Year Limited Contract
- Salary: Based on current classified salary schedule with appropriate experience and training
