Position Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Construction Surveyor/Civil Coordinator will provide field surveying support and project coordination services to the project management team and Head Office departments.
Position Duties
Field surveying using Trimble GPS and Total Station
Layout, control and reading/interpreting as-built drawings
Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations and other geodetic measurements
Verify accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at site
Calculate heights, depts., relative positions, property lines and other characteristics of terrain
Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, data, plots, reports, records and documents related to surveys
Effectively interact with other key NAC jobsite personnel working in a team environment
Planning and scheduling
Contract drawings and specification interpretation
Document control
Coordinate the contractor’s review of shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
Liaise with design firms to assist in the coordination of constructability, questions (RFI process) and the coordination of additional work
Assist with project cost budgets and maintain programs to meet projected forecasts
Coordination and instruction of all subcontractors under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Superintendent
Participate in become knowledgeable with NAC'S Health & Safety policies and procedures, as per the roles and responsibilities within the HSE Manual.
Qualifications
Construction related formal education program – civil/structural/geotechnical degree/diploma or an equivalent combination of technical training & experience
A minimum of 2 years of construction surveying experience using Trimble GPS and Total Station and possess strong project coordination skills
Must be well versed in interpreting civil and structural drawings and proficient in layouts
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software such as Excel, Word and Outlook
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and organizational skills
The ability to work with minimum supervision
The ability to travel with NAC within Canada
The ability to work overtime, as required
Valid WHMIS, Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers and Fall Arrest certificates are required
