Job Description 

Equipment Repair Lead 
 

Nature Of Work: 

 

Equipment technicians are responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of equipment. They commonly work with industrial or commercial machinery Includes: Industrial and Commercial Floor-Cleaning Machines (electric & gas) basic carpentry, specialty items, painting equipment and general mechanical maintenance work. Regardless of their specialty, they must have an understanding of how all types of equipment work so that they can properly diagnose and repair problems when they arise. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Complete assigned work orders on facility finishes, furnishings and equipment in a timely manner
  • Performing preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting equipment to ensure it is operating properly. 
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime
  • Performing inspections of equipment to identify potential safety hazards
  • Perform regular maintenance checks on a schedule or as needed
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions in equipment, including repairing, or replacing components such as motors, bearings, wiring, switchgear, or valves
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints to identify the right replacement parts
  • Install new parts and components following manufacturer’s instructions
  • Repairing mechanical or electrical equipment 
  • Respond to emergency requests on an as needed basis
  • Maintains a professional, safe and clean work environment.
  • Complies with all Encompass Onsite Services and OSHA safety policies and regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Encompass Onsite assisting other tradesmen, and emergency repairs
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs

 

Inventory and Tools Management: 

  • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for repairs and maintenance. 
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working condition and properly maintained. 

 

Safety and Compliance: 

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members adhere to safety regulations. 
  • Stay updated on industry standards and regulatory requirements related to equipment maintenance and repair. 
  • Conduct safety training and audits to maintain a safe working environment. 

 

Communication and Reporting: 

  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate repair and maintenance activities. 
  • Prepare and present regular reports on equipment status, maintenance activities, and team performance. 
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and suppliers for parts and services.

Qualifications: 

 

Education and Experience: 

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Florida Driver’s license
  • 1-2 years of experience repairing and maintaining industrial equipment
  • Technical/Certified training in electronics, mechanics, or a related field (preferred)

  • Technical skills: Equipment technicians use their technical skills to repair and maintain equipment. This includes knowing the specific tools and equipment needed to complete a task, knowing how to read and interpret technical manuals and knowing how to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Communication skills: Equipment technicians communicate with their coworkers, and managers on a regular basis. They use verbal and written communication skills to explain technical information, clearly and effectively via phone and email. Answer questions and complete assignments as required. Effective communication skills can help you collaborate with your coworkers to solve problems and find solutions to challenges.
  • Problem-solving skills: Equipment technicians use their problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues with machinery. They use their problem-solving skills to identify the source of a problem, research solutions and implement a solution. They also use their problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and find ways to repair it.
  • Attention to detail: Equipment technicians must have excellent attention to detail to ensure they complete all tasks correctly. This can include everything from reading and understanding instructions to following safety protocols. Attention to detail can also help you identify potential issues with equipment and prevent them from occurring.

Physical Requirements: 

 

  • Physical capability to include the ability to effectively use and operate various items of equipment that could include pressure washer, floor care machinery, carpet shampooer, basic carpentry tools and equipment
  • Standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, or kneeling
  • Some reaching, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, crawling, and handling
  • In addition to tolerating a variety of conditions, you need to be able to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. and be able to push or pull up to 50 lbs. daily
