Job Summary

The Junior Legal Counsel Officer will support the organization by providing legal advice, drafting, and reviewing contracts, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and assisting in the management of legal risks. This role will be responsible for supporting day-to-day legal matters, conducting legal research, and working closely with senior legal staff to develop skills and knowledge.

Job Responsibilities

Key Metric

Legal Research: Conduct legal research and analysis on a wide range of topics to support the legal team's work.

Research findings are accurate, relevant, and delivered within agreed timelines

Contract Management: Assist in the drafting of various commercial agreements, such as non-disclosure agreements, service contracts, and vendor agreements.

Drafted agreements comply with legal standards, are error-free, and finalized within expected turnaround times.

Litigation Assistance: Support senior legal counsel with preparing for legal proceedings, including organizing documents, conducting case-related research, and liaising with external counsel.

Case files, research notes, and supporting documents are 100% complete, well-organized, and delivered

Document Review: Manage and organize legal documentation, ensuring all records are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.

Legal documentation is well maintained

Advisory Role: Provide preliminary legal advice to internal departments on routine legal questions and issues, escalating more complex matters to senior members of the team.    

Routine legal queries are addressed correctly and on time
Maintain and actively implement SHE programs and responsibility (involve identify, mitigate and monitor SHE risk), including SHE Management System to ensure the effectiveness of the programs conform to official standard, requirements and procedure applied and to confirm the execution of the SHE Responsibility meet the intended outcome - SHE risk well maintained

Education

Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field.

Skill, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Min. 0 - 1 year of experience as a legal practitioner, preferably with some exposure to corporate
  • Prior experience (internship, training, or work) in an in-house legal team or corporate environment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of compliance, data protection, employment law, and regulatory frameworks relevant to the company’s industry.
  • Strong drafting, reviewing, and negotiation skills for commercial agreements.
  • Research skills to analyze legislation, regulations, and case law.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written is an advantage
