Position Summary ​

The Director, Logistics Distribution Center will oversee and coordinate the activities of the Furniture Distribution Center within budget guidelines, ensures lean production standards are achieved and will be accountable for meeting safety, inventory, and inbound & outbound logistics goals. The Director, Logistics Distribution Center will have a data-driven and results oriented approach that supports successful execution of company strategic objectives. Will provide strategic direction and continuous improvement for the facility.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leads by example, communicates information through regular Daily Direction Setting Team Meetings with employees and team leaders.
  • Ensures that organizational and process changes are embraced and sustained through team updates and training throughout departmental leadership aligned with new Operational Strategies and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Direct, coordinate, and control inbound freight, warehouse service levels and storage materials.
  • In partnership with HR Business Partner, determines performance expectations, evaluates performance, and provides coaching and opportunities for associate career path development.  Addresses employee issues in a timely manner. Ensures that all performance evaluations for material handlers, equipment operators and team leadership are completed in a timely manner. Promotes teamwork and recognition for accomplishments.
  • Own inbound receipts and outbound production planning and site scheduling processes to all Distribution Centers
  • Development of inventory management processes in line with network inventory models and lead the development of robust inventory supply to other regions
  • Partner with Regional Supply Chain Leadership on the development and deployment of inventory planning
  • Ensure Operations and Supply Chain capability is in place to support new product process flow to DC’s
  • Work with Operations and Supply Chain Leaders to develop annual and strategic Business Plan consistent with the Divisional Business plan, marketing strategies, new technology and capital expenditures
  • Responsible for the oversight and coordination of production planning and inventory supply management
  • Defines and tracks capacity performance, Product Cycle Time Reduction
  • Defines and tracks supply performance, including fulfillment to schedule, Service and Inventory Performance and Compliance to Supply Strategies
  • Development of key business rules as well as metrics to show performance/impact
  • Partner with the responsible parties to measure KPI’s and utilize these key metrics to establish inventory accuracy internal and shipped to external locations to meet a seamless transfer process
  • Establish framework and deploy effective Supply Chain Review to inform Leadership of the latest operational supply outlook and identify key opportunities for Leadership influence to effect outcomes
  • Provide leadership for employee populations in non-exempt positions and direct reports in exempt positions that both maximize and optimize resources in support of the company’s goals and objectives in serving customers
  • Design and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in work flow. Effectively lead and develop the Process Managers and employees utilizing performance management tools to enhance performance and achieve individual as well as company goals
  • Ensure that the performance goals are set and achieved, through the proper execution of performance metrics as it relates to Productivity, Safety, Quality and Customer Service
  • Ensure productivity, safety, and quality goals are achieved through a process of continuous process improvement. Work closely with employees to communicate and educate on work instructions, policies, procedures and process improvement initiative. Ensure standardization and sharing of best-demonstrated practices with Operations, Distribution Center and as appropriate across the Distribution Centers
  • Ensure the company’s physical assets (building, equipment, inventory, etc.) are properly controlled, maintained, protected and utilized. Utilize process improvements to continually improve operational efficiencies
  • Partner with Risk Management to ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations and power industrial equipment requirements
  • Requires occasional travel to other DC’s, corporate offices, and field locations
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) or equivalent from four-year college in business, supply chain, logistics, or a related field.  10 years of experience in a warehousing/distribution field in progressively senior positions. Operations experience is an asset. Experience with LEAN methodology and Continuous Improvement. Five plus years with previous management experience in a high-volume distribution center operation.  Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word software and MS Excel spreadsheet software.

Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will manage a team. Develop and execute the company’s business strategies in order to attain the goals of the board and shareholders. Provide strategic advice so that direct reports will have accurate view of the market and the company’s future. Prepare and implement  comprehensive business plans to facilitate. Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and that they are followed at all times. Communicate and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners, and authorities.  Able to delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of direct reports providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.

Position Hiring Range

The hiring pay range provides a guide for what we would reasonably pay for the position.  Pay will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, relevant work experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Living Spaces reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Pay is determined by various factors including market demand, applicable skills, work experience and education, location, company budget, and in-demand skill sets.

Compensation: $135,000.00 - $180,000.00

Retail, Guest Services, and Distribution Center Team Members are eligible to receive team bonus based on meeting specific goals and KPI’s.
