POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA youth and family programs.
This position will receive a minimum of 4 weeks Paid-Time Off, Holiday Pay, Full-time benefits to include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life insurance, a Retirement 403(b) pension plan upon eligibility and a Free Y Membership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Directs and supervises youth and family programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs a diverse team of staff and volunteers across multiple dimensions of diversity. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Onboards and develops them for success.
- Coordinate family nights, special events birthday parties, summer enrichment camps, and activities for our youth, families and community.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication with leadership team, staff members, and partnering organizations. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
in program. - Secures and schedules needed facilities and creates and schedules programs and activities related to youth and families.
- Follow systems, practices, and training related to risk management and safety of participants and staff, and follow incident report procedures and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent is preferred.
- Two to three year’s experience in planning Youth and Family activities.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community. - Must understand the basic concepts of a voluntary, non-profit organization, as well as the structure of the YMCA as a partnership of volunteers and staff and accept a commitment to the YMCA mission.
- Employee must have working knowledge of a Mac environment, Gmail, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Child Abuse Prevention training and certifications required before the first shift. Safety and prevention trainings are also required to be completed on an annual basis.
- Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic lifesaving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED.
- Must be 21 years of age, and have a valid driver’s license as well as the capacity to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in a fast-paced office and gym facility environment. Position requires attending meetings at different off-site locations.
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise children’s activities.
- Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required.
- Job requires high levels of alertness and concentration. This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking in order to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Job requires accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills, while maintaining high levels of initiative in order to work within deadlines.
- Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.
- Incumbent must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time, as well as, able to manipulate keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils is essential.
