About Investments
The Senior QA Engineer role supports our Investments function. RenaissanceRe’s Investments team manages our $30 billion+ investment portfolio, allocating our assets, either directly or through investment managers, to deliver alpha against our strategic benchmark. We invest in a diverse range of assets from treasuries and corporate bonds to equities and private credit to provide capital and liquidity for underwriting risk and paying claims. Our investment portfolio is one of RenaissanceRe’s “Three Drivers of Profit”, along with underwriting income and fees, providing ~$1.2 billion in net investment income to benefit our shareholders and joint venture partners.
About the Position
Reporting directly to the VP, Systems Strategy & Architecture, for Investments, the Senior QA Engineer will support testing the analytical data platforms and data products, ensuring the completeness of our data. The team comprises engineers from various disciplines including software engineering, data and BI engineering, process automation, quality assurance amongst others. As a Senior QA Engineer in data space, you will be expected to carry out more than a ‘traditional’ Senior QA and is part of a transition within RenRe to move to an integrated approach to quality. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in supporting multi-functional teams to drive changes and innovations to a team’s processes to improve not only the output/features but also the outcome for the team and business. This is both a hands-on role and expected to demonstrate technical leadership working alongside and training junior engineers.

The Senior QA role is based in the Dublin office, collocated with the majority of the IT and Investments teams. Occasional travel may be required to other RenaissanceRe offices, including Bermuda, London, and New York.

- Key Stakeholders & Partners: Investment Operations; Core Investments team, including Managing Directors, CIO, and Head of Quantitative Investments
- Key Partners: IT Portfolio Managers and other senior Engineers; Enablement Teams, such as Data Office and Platform Strategy
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for data validation.
- Lead efforts to validate data integrity, accuracy, and consistency through automated tests.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive automation strategy for data quality assurance.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or SQL.
- Demonstrate ability to automate test scripts to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Conduct performance testing on data systems to ensure scalability and reliability
- Drive continuous improvement in QA processes and methodologies.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization and efficiency.
- Embrace the RenaissanceRe culture and demonstrate it in daily activities
Candidate Qualifications:
- At least 7+ years of relevant experience and proven track record working with technical teams in a financial services context using a similar technology stack, including:
- 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering/Reporting testing
- Experience with testing large datasets – experience with data lakes/fabrics would be ideal
- Experience working with developers to help them test their own code
- Demonstrate a technical aptitude towards automation and architecture
- Demonstrate a Shift-Left testing mindset to add value to the agile team
- Good knowledge of SQL databases and experience executing queries
- Experience with one of the Change Management tools or platforms, e.g. JIRA or ServiceNow
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure preferred
- Experience mentoring or managing a small team of testers through the development lifecycle preferred
- Experience and understanding of IT challenges, opportunities, and applications in a Financial Services context, including data governance and compliance standards; specific Investments or Asset Management experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated learning agility and facility adopting new technologies and systems
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to estimate and clearly articulate development effort required for specific tasks in sprint ceremonies
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience
