About the Team/Role 

The Testing and Oversight Manager will work under the supervision of the Head of Regulated Entities, EMEA, executing and managing the testing process for the organisation. This role is responsible for leading the testing and oversight function, including the line management and development of a Testing and Oversight Analyst. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned compliance professional to lead and shape the testing and oversight function for WEX’s regulated entities.

Working day to day with the Testing and Oversight analyst on sample testing, but also responsible for creating and managing the annual testing plans. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the continued roll-out of a new testing framework, applying a continuous improvement mindset to enhance its effectiveness. Interaction with teams such as Customer Due Diligence, Transaction Monitoring, Heads of Risk & Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs) for WEX’s regulated entities.

How you'll make an impact

  • As a lead reviewer, the Compliance Testing and Oversight Manager is responsible for the reviews from initial planning, through execution and to final reporting

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Testing & Oversight Analyst, providing clear direction, regular feedback, and support for their professional growth.

  • Adopt a risk-based approach to all testing activities, ensuring that identified issues are prioritised based on the risk they present to the organisation and that recommendations effectively address root causes.

  • Create the approach and methodology to be applied to the internal control testing performed, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedural documents.

  • Drive the development and execution of comprehensive, risk-based test plans that provide key assurance to the business and senior leadership, including the Heads of Risk & Compliance for all regulated entities, the VP, Compliance, International, the Head of Regulated Entities and the Boards of WEX’s regulated entities.

  • Communicate with business owners/staff to schedule the test where necessary.

  • Conduct the testing and retain supporting documentation.

  • Produce comprehensive reports regarding the success or failure of the test and make recommendations to mitigate any additional risk identified

  • Deliver draft report to the Heads of Risk & Compliance for all regulated entities, the VP, Compliance, International and the Head of Regulated Entities, EMEA, for review.

  • Submit reports to business owners for review and schedule meetings as required.

  • Track responses and follow up with business owners regarding action plans for remediation

  • Maintain current and accurate tracking of all test reports, responses, action plans and supporting documentation.

  • Escalate issues such as non-cooperation or non-receipt of requested information.

  • Develop and maintain Compliance testing standards and procedures documents.

  • Provide Board metrics regarding tests and action plans to the Heads of Risk & Compliance for all Optal Entities.

  • Explore and leverage opportunities to utilise Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance testing processes, improve data analysis, and introduce operational efficiencies.

Experience you'll bring

  • Compliance testing role or related position(s).

  • Proven experience in a leadership or people management capacity is desirable.

  • Strong understanding of compliance testing methodology, risk, control and data analysis.

  • Designing and implementing annual testing plans, including experience of updating procedural documentation.

  • Apply strong problem-solving skills and excellent judgment to develop practical, business-oriented solutions.

  • Proven ability in building strong internal relationships between different stakeholders

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Excel and using screening tools such as Salesforce, Tableau, and Passfort.

  • A demonstrable interest in or experience with using AI Large Language Models (LLMs, such as Gemini or ChatGPT) in a professional capacity is desirable.

  • Ability to work independently, yet still be team-oriented.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High ethical standards.
