Primary Accountability

The EMR Trainer is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering comprehensive eClinicalWorks (eCW) training programs to FHCN staff and providers. This role supports clinical operations by ensuring effective use of the electronic health record system through structured training sessions, on-site support, and ongoing education. Other health information technology platforms may apply based on organizational needs.

Description of Primary Responsibilities

  1. Create and incorporate AI-based training elements that enhance learning effectiveness, automate user feedback, or streamline training workflows.
  2. Design and maintain eCW training modules tailored to clinical roles, including medical, dental, and optometry providers and support staff.
  3. Deliver in-person and virtual training to new hires, existing employees, and providers based on standard workflows and best practices.
  4. Conduct EMR training needs assessments across departments to ensure training materials align with organizational requirements and user proficiency levels.
  5. Develop job aids, training alerts, and instructional materials for eCW enhancements, upgrades, or workflow changes.
  6. Stay current with updates to eClinicalWorks and integrate new features into training content as applicable.
  7. Provide ongoing support and refresher training through site visits, help desk support, or one-on-one coaching as needed.
  8. Act as a subject matter expert on eCW use and serve as a training resource for end users.
  9. Collaborate with clinical leadership, operations, and MIS to ensure training aligns with organizational goals, compliance requirements, and operational consistency.
  10. Measure training effectiveness through post-training assessments, user feedback, and usage tracking.
  11. Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, and competency documentation in Oracle.
  12. Assist with classroom setup, technical logistics, and coordination of training sessions.
  13. Support provider-specific onboarding with focused EMR training, including documentation, order entry, and messaging tools.
  14. Provide input into the continuous improvement of workflows based on provider and staff feedback.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Description of Primary Attributes

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

  1. Possesses advanced work-related skills, including written and verbal communication skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical knowledge, technical skills, frequently acquired through completion of an Associate’s Degree program with a recognized major or comparable experience; Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a training or support role required.
  3. Experience within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment preferred.
  4. Demonstrated ability to train adult learners across various clinical roles.

Technical Skills:

  1. Proficient in eClinicalWorks, including chart documentation, order entry, clinical messaging, and reporting tools.
  2. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  3. Ability to develop and deliver training in multiple formats, including in-person, virtual, and self-guided modules.
  4. Ability to combine information from various sources to develop usable training curricula for various roles.

Communications Skills:

  1. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Ability to explain complex system functionality in clear, non-technical language.
  3. Ability to present and facilitate training curricula with diverse groups, including providers, clinical support, and administrative staff.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use repetitive hand movements to type and grasp. The employee is frequently required to stand or walk, and the employee must occasionally stoop, reach above and below shoulder height, squat, climb, lift, and/or move up to 30 pounds. The employee must work in the environmental elements, including cold and hot weather. The employee must travel from site to site and to other non-FHCN locations.

 

Pay Scale: 

Min Hourly Rate: $29.02

Max Hourly Rate: $40.04
