This Opportunity
WSP is seeking a Lead Facility Assessor with 7+ years of experience in, and detailed knowledge of designing, constructing, managing, and assessing facility systems and components. This role requires extensive knowledge in either structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, interior construction and design, or roofing systems. Candidates will lead Facility Condition Assessment projects for large portfolio clients throughout the United States.
- Perform assessments of client facilities using professional expertise and judgment to determine physical condition, remaining service life, and compliance with specifications and building codes.
- Has the knowledge and credentials to make consulting recommendations and perform as the subject matter expert for a given discipline. Mentors and advises team members and leadership, able to resolve conflicting methodologies and communicate best practices within their discipline. Provide analysis and lessons learned throughout project life-cycle.
- Ability to understand and implement project work plans, quality management plans, and lead others to execute based on a client’s requirements.
- Use tablet-based computer system to identify and document building systems and components and provide justification for determination of the physical condition.
- Assess multiple buildings within large complexes on a daily basis identifying major components and sub-components, as well as supporting systems, while operating in a physically demanding environment. Experience assessing government buildings/portfolios is a plus.
- Ability to lead both small and large teams of assessors and report team status daily. Understands quality requirements and can execute a scope of work to meet contractual requirements. Can establish standard practices for complex scenarios. Willingness to collaborate with project team members and be a team player.
- Has a proven track record of teaching techniques, skills, and mentoring other team members to achieve success and grow.
Who You Are
- Excellent mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to work efficiently and meet project deadlines.
- Excellent technical writing skills and experience drafting proposals, cost estimates, project schedules, and work breakdown structures.
- Proficient computer skills, comfortable with technology and hardware, specifically Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint).
- Ability to travel 75% or more and work flexible hours.
- Must work well with team members, interact with clients positively, and operate from a future ready mindset. Must present a clean and professional work appearance, following established dress codes.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights, and perform moderate physical activity such as walking and standing, in a physically challenging environment, both indoors and outdoors.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment screening including but not limited to: criminal background checks, previous employment verification, education verification, drug screening, and motor vehicle records.
Required Qualifications
- BS Degree in Architecture or Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience conducting facility condition assessments.
- Experience using mobile computer system devices for field data collection.
- Knowledge of facility condition assessment software applications like BUILDER SMS.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid passport or ability to obtain a valid passport.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineers (PE or EIT) or Architects (RA) preferred but not required.
- Prior military service in civil engineering, construction, or facilities management (AFCEC, DPW, IMCOM, Seabee, PRIME BEEF, RED HORSE, USACE)
- Experience creating cost estimates for project proposals and for client recommendations.
