Reporting to the COO, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering the Technology plan across the entire business. You will work closely with the senior leadership teams and the wider IT team, utilising your excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills to drive employee engagement and manage transformational change.
 
As Head of IT you will partner the Senior Leadership Team operating with high levels of autonomy. You will have exposure to many different aspects of the business and have the opportunity to work on national and international IT projects.
 
Key elements of this role will be accountability for ensuring the design and delivery of an enterprise architecture and IT service that supports the rapid growth of a global automotive manufacturer.
 
Whatever you focus on, it will all be aimed at delivering the highest quality service to our internal and external customers. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the organizations IT systems and department. Split across Applications, Service & Support, Infrastructure and Cyber Security, you will have 4 direct reports leading those function groups.
  • Conduct a top to tail review of Architecture, Systems and Processes in order to support the business through its HQ move and through the next 5-10 year period of rapid change.
  • Defines the future of technology support for all Gordon Murray Group businesses with the guidance of the Executive Board and Senior Leadership Teams.
  • Secures the boundaries of an IP led business whose very future is built on the knowledge in the business.
  • Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Analyses IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
  • Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  • Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinates multisite IT systems via enterprise resource planning (ERP).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science required; Masters degree or MBA preferred.
  • Extensive ERP knowledge and technical expertise required
  • Possess problem solving and analytical capability; experience of managing ambiguity
  • Possess expert change management, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Have intellectual curiosity; bring valuable insight into the team / business
  • Have a proven hands-on attitude, be flexible and adaptable.
  • Demonstrate the ability to motivate and influence others
  • Expert in getting the most out of matrix teams
  • Detail oriented, a Strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Passionate about success with strong cultural empathy
  • Highly developed communication skills, able to get across complex concepts simply
  • Strong organisational ability
