Position Duties
This position requires thorough knowledge of County and State Erosion and Stormwater Management Program laws and regulations and specific working knowledge of civil engineering and construction site management and civil engineering plans. This position is responsible for the following duties:
- Completes erosion and sediment control inspections. This includes performing inspections of active construction sites in accordance with state laws and local ordinances and County programs; reporting site problems and special conditions; proposing corrective actions to address site issues; completing bond reduction/release inspections and code compliance inspections, and maintaining/documenting inspections and project assignment status within the land management system.
- Manages erosion and sediment control enforcement per the County Ordinance and Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Act and Regulations, including processing notice to complies, stop work orders and notices of violations.
- Conducts plan review in accordance with state and local ordinances, laws, and handbooks.
This position requires general knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and policies, and the ability to use computer programs and equipment. The ideal candidate must have the ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing and maintain effective relationships with fellow employees, County officials, contractors, and the public. The ideal candidate should also have the ability to act independently using sound engineering judgment to solve problems and issues in the field or the office and should effectively be able to work in a team environment.
