We are seeking a highly adaptable and operationally driven Senior Strategic Account Manager to support a key vendor-managed inventory (VMI) program. This dynamic, high-impact role combines hands-on operational oversight with strategic account management and is best suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments. You will solve complex challenges, collaborating across IT systems, clients, and multiple stakeholders, and ensuring inventory performance and service levels consistently meet client needs. You will maintain client relationships with key target accounts that have a major strategic impact on the long-term success of the organization. You will identify cross/up and repeat sales opportunities and work to resolve any issues or concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary operational liaison onsite with customer and Wesco teams to ensure the VMI program functions efficiently and evolves to meet client needs.
  • Strong professional communicator (verbal & presentation materials) at multiple levels from field operations to the executive levels.
  • Gain functional understanding of client operations, including store rooms, contractor yards, transportation logistics, and field execution.
  • Work closely with IT and programming teams to leverage and improve system tools to streamline processes and resolve issues.
  • Manage inventory accuracy, monitor and align inventory levels with client forecasts, usage patterns, and reorder points to optimize service levels and cost efficiency.
  • Provide feedback to drive process improvements, from operational workflow to systems enhancements.
  • Continuously develops relationships with priority customer stakeholders, understands their key business issues, and recommends ways to deliver value.
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion, support strategic account management, and capture potential additional business aligned with client needs and rate case processes.
  • Support new program implementations, specialty materials, and Capex initiatives as the contract scope evolves.
  • Liaison between the field and Global Accounts teams as it relates to pursuing new agreements, Value-Add/Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) commitments and increasing customer wallet-share.
  • Maintains and manages a pipeline of opportunities at named accounts, including renewals, projects, and share improvement opportunities.
  • Communicates customer activity, opportunity status, renewal status, and strategic plan progress to management.
  • Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs.
  • Engages supplier sales resources to enlist their support and create solutions.
  • Expert in strategic selling and takes the lead in high level sales engagements. Provides pre and post-call coaching to branch sales team.

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years proven sales experience as a strategic account manager of large account portfolios
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and projects.
  • History of success maintaining and developing key relationships.
  • Success in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
  • Ability to understand where potential exists in assigned accounts and can recognize and create opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building strong client relationships.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-starter and able to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.
