The Collector III is responsible for handling late-stage collection activities primarily for HELOC and mortgage delinquent accounts. The Collector III practices advanced dispute resolution and recovery strategies to bring delinquency down. The Collector III assist with risk assessment of high-value accounts and with departmental process improvement initiatives. The Collector III provides mentorship and technical assistance to junior collectors.

What you will do here:

Manage late-stage delinquent accounts primarily for HELOC’s and mortgage accounts, while also assisting other queues to include auto collections, repossessions, and remarketing efforts. Review and process foreclosure and collection requests for delinquent real estate accounts, ensuring proper monitoring throughout the foreclosure process, including cases involving deceased account holders. Verify and maintain accurate and complete member information, including names, addresses, and personally identifiable information (PII), following established guidelines and best practices.

Implement dispute resolution and recovery strategies to resolve delinquent accounts including Loss Mitigation referrals, early intervention outreach, repayment plans, and re-ages, while maintaining a member-centric approach.

Communicate with borrowers to understand the reasons for delinquency by analyzing financial details such as income, tax liabilities, and monthly obligations, enabling informed decision-making to support repayment solutions.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assess collection strategies and determine the best course of action.

Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements from governing bodies such as NCUA, FDCPA, CFPB, and investor guidelines, ensuring adherence in all collection activities.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

What you will need:

High School Diploma or GED required.

2+ years of Collections experience required.

1+ years of Real Estate Collections and/or Real Estate Lending experience preferred.

Ability to deliver consistent, high-quality service while maintaining professionalism and member focus required.

Understanding of fundamental banking concepts, products, and their application to member needs required.

Skill in focusing on member communication, identifying underlying needs, and demonstrating understanding required.

Late-Stage Collections Mastery- Managing accounts with late delinquency with advanced recovery tactics required.

Addressing escalated disputes and understanding legal collection processes required.

Identifying high-risk accounts and working with compliance teams required.

Providing feedback on optimizing collections workflows required.

Decision Quality, Peer Relationships, Drive for Results, Time Management required.

FDCPA,CFPB,NCUA experience/knowledge; Experience navigating and researching in County Recorder and Assessor web pages required.

Microsoft Office Suite required.
