Requirements
Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and safety-driven Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) to join our team of aviation professionals. The CFI will be responsible for providing high-quality flight instruction to student pilots in accordance with FAA regulations, school policies, and the highest standards of aviation safety. This role is essential to developing the next generation of safe, competent, and confident aviators.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- To act in accordance with all Vantage Aviation Policy and Procedures as pertaining to as professional pilot.

- Proper preflight actions
- Safety of Flight
- Radio Calls
- Practice area etiquette
- Weather avoidance
- Maintenance coordination and compliance
- Sounds judgement as determined by FAA and industry standards
- Professional steward for DAS, Vantage, and Chesterfield Airport KFCI
- Act as a role model, mentor and professional example for students and rental pilots
- Responsible for timely course completion of students, including completion of the required paperwork and all flight instructor endorsements from solo through FAA practical test
- Recommends syllabus and courseware improvements and assists the development of a new curriculum or courseware, as assigned
- Teach classroom and individual ground school classes as needed
- Be a key part of the Vantage and DAS Safety Management System (SMS)
- Coordinate with Line service and front desk for proper fueling, washing, cleaning, and hangaring of necessary aircraft
- Record and properly document current aircraft “times”
- Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings, as assigned
- Coordinate Discovery Flights
- Provide introductory flights, instruction, and transition flights, as assigned
- Ensure that all ground and flight instruction, including “owner aircraft” billed.
- Disclose any instructional activity that may conflict with the interests of Vantage and DAS Flight School to the Flight School Director who will provide written consent, if approved
- Your schedule will be assigned upon between the Director and instructor. This job may include weekends as student schedules change
- Properly and accurately report all time sheet information
- Proper and professional appearance and attire
- Ensure students understand and practice all aspects of Vantage Aviation and Dominion Aviation safety policies and Standard Operating Procedures
- Perform flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with Vantage and Dominion Aviation approved training course online
- Schedule each student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course and immediately notify the Flight School Director of any delay in training or unsatisfactory progress
- Maintain accurate flight and ground training using brief descriptions (not lesson numbers) including student records, student logbooks, computer records, and own logbook
- Ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by students, as set out in the approved course outline
- Schedule pre-solo and pre-FAA practical test stage checks in conjunction with Flight School Director, Flight School Chief Pilot or check airmen
- File incident and SMS reports for any observed safety violations or situations that could affect the safety of flight
- Remove trash, monitor maintenance condition of school aircraft, and inform the chief pilot of any questionable items
- Work with the Maintenance Department to return the aircraft to an up status
- Assist with yearly TSA Audit and completes student folders in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean and organized Flight School office and Simulator space
Top Candidates will possess:
- Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate.
- Current FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to pass TSA background check and pre-employment screening.
- CFII and/or MEI certifications.
- Experience with Part 141 flight training programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or related field.
- Familiarity with electronic record-keeping and flight scheduling systems.
