Location: Washington, PA 15301
Position Type: Part-Time - 24 hours per week
Reports To: Property Manager

Position Overview:
The Community Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations and community engagement efforts at an Arbors-managed Section 8 senior housing property. This individual will serve as a key liaison between elderly and disabled residents, property management, and local service providers—ensuring that residents feel supported, informed, and connected.
This is a resident-facing role that requires empathy, organization, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Support & Communication:
- Greet and assist residents in the office and common areas with general questions or concerns.
- Help connect residents to appropriate resources including social services, transportation, and wellness programs.
- Provide assistance to residents needing help understanding notices, paperwork, or community guidelines.
Community Engagement:
- Plan and facilitate social, recreational, and educational activities to encourage resident participation and foster a sense of community.
- Collaborate with local service providers to bring programs or resources on-site.
- Promote resident involvement while ensuring events are inclusive, respectful, and safe.
Administrative & Operational Support:
- Assist the Property Manager with distribution of notices, recordkeeping, and light clerical work.
- Monitor common areas and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Support compliance by helping ensure residents understand and follow property rules.
Requirements
Qualifications for a Community Assistant:
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate's Degree or some college in relevant field preferred.
- Experience in social or human services work and/or familiarity with local community resources & supports.
- Ability to effectively utilize computers and technology to complete daily tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- GREAT attitude and desire for professional growth.
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass criminal background and drug screens.
