S3, Inc. is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the PEO Aviation team on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. 

This position is contingent on award of contract.

The Utility Helicopters Project Office (UHPO) is responsible for the comprehensive life cycle management of the Army’s utility helicopter (UH) fleet. The UHPO manages multiple phases of acquisition, development, production, modification, recapitalization, sustainment, and foreign military sales for the UH 60 Black Hawk Helicopter. In addition, the UHPO is responsible for the acquisition and management of the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH). The UH 60 Black Hawk mission is to protect and sustain the force by providing air assault, general support, command and control, and aero-medical evacuation capabilities.

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) with expertise in acquisition, logistics, and/or technology to support the Army’s most critical aviation platforms. In this role, you’ll work with the UH-60 A/L/M/V Black Hawk, HH-60M Black Hawk, and the UH-72 Lakota Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), providing strategic insight and technical expertise that directly impacts Army Aviation readiness, sustainment, and modernization.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted SME, providing authoritative guidance across acquisition, logistics, and technology domains for UHPO aviation systems.
  • Contribute to key program documentation, including acquisition strategies, Statements of Work (SOWs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), engineering cost estimates, technical data packages, and specifications.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on aircraft systems and subsystems, including airframe, avionics, survivability, flight controls, aeromechanics, and propulsion.
  • Support lifecycle management, sustainment planning, and modernization initiatives for Army rotary wing platforms.
  • Integrate best practices such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA). 
  • Partner with government stakeholders, product mangers, and cross-functional teams to ensure program and mission success. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor, Masters, or Ph. D in Engineering or a Technical field. In lieu of degree High School Diploma with 15 years of relevant experience.  
  • Experience with UH-60 Black Hawk and/or UH-72 Lakota systems.
  • Experience supporting PEO Aviation and/or UHPO core systems.
  • Experience with rotary wing technical requirements, sustainment, and acquisition processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to brief senior leader
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have an active DoD SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing DoD acquisition documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Army aviation logistics, sustainment, and modernization programs.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition regulations (DoDI 5000 series) and program lifecycle management.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% to support mission activities.
