Responsibilities:

This role utilizes the most current and effective techniques in the creation, planning, and development of Spirit Airlines’ route network, while considering the financial, operational, competitive, and strategic ramifications of all capacity planning decisions. This role will also craft and implement an exceptional route, network, and schedule strategy while continuously re-evaluating the competitive landscape and historical results.

 

  • Monitors and evaluates existing routes in the network and recommends capacity and/or schedule adjustments to maximize the financial performance of the network
  • Evaluates and forecasts the integration of potential new routes into the network using existing methods as well as innovating new methods into the network process
  • Assists in the development of network and fleet deployment strategies based on company strategic initiatives and heavy consideration for the competitive environment
  • Assists in working across multiple departments including pricing and revenue management, marketing, and various operational teams to ensure seamless execution of the network strategy
  • Contributes to the development of medium- and long-term business plans, including providing key inputs in areas such as network growth/development and fleet planning
  • Participates in monthly profitability performance reviews for network planning, commercial, and executive teams
  • Prepares and presents industry competitive change summaries and analysis to C-level management on a weekly basis
  • Generates and disseminates reports to applicable internal and external parties, including preparing the commercial items for quarterly earnings calls review with the CCO and sending weekly competitive capacity change reports
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Business Administration, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years airline industry experience 
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Extensive experience data mining and developing analysis
  • Knowledge of airline operation, economics, planning and scheduling
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Able to articulate views convincingly.
  • Flexibility in thought with the ability to critically examine differing viewpoints
  • Ability to navigate complex decisions where “judgement calls” must be made with limited or incomplete information.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, each with competing priorities.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, with the ability to read several moves ahead of the market and schedule moves.
  • Ability and willingness to work and study independently.
  • Willingness to try things in a different and unique way.
  • A “quick study” who can grasp issues quickly.
  • Creative and innovative – capable of driving the creation of new ideas and solutions.
  • Communicate effectively across multiple departments and levels, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including C-Suite. General Population – Low Activity Lifting Requirements: Seldom lift up to 10 lbs, such as small office supplies or documents. Pushing/Pulling: Seldom pushing/pulling of light items within the workspace. Standing/Sitting Requirements: Primarily seated work, with occasional standing for brief tasks. Bending/Kneeling/Reaching: Occasional reaching within arm’s length to retrieve materials. Coordination: Basic manual coordination for standard office tasks (e.g., typing, using office equipment). Vision/Auditory Requirements: Clear vision for reading documents and screens; clear hearing for standard communication. Environmental Conditions: Indoor, climate-controlled environment. Safety Equipment: None required.
