Mercy Street is seeking a highly organized and detail oriented individual to manage day-to-day financial tasks including: accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and data entry, while also managing non-profit specific duties such as grant tracking, donor restriction monitoring, and preparing for external audits and tax filings in conjunction with our vendor. Key skills include strong attention to detail, proficiency in accounting software, and knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Some college education or specialized training in accounting is preferred, along with prior bookkeeping or full service accounting experience.
- Technical skills – proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft office suite, Google workplace
- Soft skills – strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent communication
- Understanding of non-profit environment – familiarity with non-profit principles, grant management, and compliance is critical for success.
- Understanding of state-specific regulations, forms and deadlines
- Expertise in tracking donor restrictions and grant regulations in accounting systems

MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL

- Being ready, willing, and able to lead or contribute to distinctly Christian activities (including, but not limited to, worship or staff chapel).
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/RECEIVABLE
- Process invoices, verify vender information, handle cash transactions, and ensure timely payment processing of bills
BANK RECONCILIATIONS
- Reconcile bank statements with the general ledger to ensure accuracy
DATA ENTRY & RECORD KEEPING
- Enter financial transactions into accounting databases, maintain accurate records of journals, ledgers, and invoices in accordance with Mercy Street and audit standards
FINANCIAL REPORTING
- Compile data for financial reports and assist with month-end and year-end closings
COLLABORATION
- Work with other staff, vendors, and departments to ensure smooth financial operations
GENERAL SUPPORT
- Provide general support for the Ministry and Operations team, process expense reports, maintain financial files
- Provide reporting as needed to Mercy Street executive team
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
- Serve on appropriate committees; attend staff meetings, and other staff functions.
- Strengthen teamwork, collaboration, alignment, morale, transparency, credibility, and trust throughout the ministry.
- Fulfill necessary tasks, projects or roles as assigned.
