The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Court Clerk in our Municipal Court Department.
Responsibilities: Clerks court hearings, motions, and trials to record information manually and with audio/video recording equipment; transcribes this information onto dockets; prepares official Court dispositions and other documentation for each court session. Finalizes all paperwork after court and disperses accordingly. Enters dispositions into case management system which automatically transmits to the appropriate agencies. Monitors progress, success or failure of court programs. Prepares a variety of Court Orders including Bench Warrants, Commitment Orders, Orders of Conditions, Orders of Payment and other Orders as directed by the Court. Schedules and confirms hearings, trials, etc. on the Courts calendar. Assists with Jury selection and preliminary hearings; maintains juror list, calls roll of the venire, calls jurors into the box, directs excused jurors as to when and where to appear next, swears the jury, polls the jury when directed by the Court. Receives and accounts for monies received as fines and prepares daily deposit report. Receipts and processes web-based payments. Receives and responds to mail. Answers questions from attorneys, other office staff, and the public. Organizes and maintains court files; makes appropriate entries in files; file-stamps various documents; submits files for signature; ensures the smooth flow of files through the court system. Acts as liaison between judges and a variety of other departments and agencies. Must have working knowledge of process and procedure of judges. Must know process and procedure for both Greenville and Spartanburg counties. Clerks preliminary hearings and DV Court as needed. Fills in for Jury Trial Coordinator in case of her absence during Jury Week. Must know how to operate all electronic equipment in courtroom. Processes Expungement Orders. Prepares monthly Disbursement Report.
Job Requirements: Associates degree in criminal justice, law or related field. One (1) year of judicial case management experience, to include handling documents and dealing with customers in a criminal justice and/or court related setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid state issued driver’s license.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; additional hours as scheduled.
Salary: Minimum salary $45,353; dependent on experience
