A Day in the Life of a Physical Therapy Assistant

Works under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist performing duties to provide physical therapy care and related tasks as delegated by the supervising physical therapist. The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant carries out routine physical therapy functions such as supervision of aides, documentation and treatment within professional scope of practice.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:
  • Performs physical therapy treatment of patients which includes direct application of modalities, instruction in the use of assistive devices, safety and instruction in therapeutic exercises per treatment plans established by the physical therapist.
  • Observes, records and reports to the physical therapist and physician, when appropriate, the patient reaction to treatment and any changes in the patient’s condition; documents, in the patient record, appropriate data for the treatment(s) provided.
  • Instructs other health team personnel, such as home health or physical therapy aides and family members, in certain phases of physical therapy with which they may assist the patient; attends care plan conferences when appropriate.
  • Acknowledges orders and inputs charges into the computer as needed.
  • Teaches educational classes for groups or individuals on topics relevant to physical therapy.
  • Supervises physical therapy aides.

Here is What You Need:
  • Graduate from an accredited physical therapist assistant school
  • Current Wyoming PTA license
  • 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date
Nice to Have:
  • Prior experience as a physical therapist assistant
