Geotab is seeking a Government Security Operations Intern who will be supporting high compliance environments through vulnerability management, environment and tools analysis and enforcing security best practices. What you'll do:
As a Government Security Operations Intern your key area of responsibility will be triaging tickets, addressing tools output and ensuring adherence with compliance standards. You will need to work closely with team members, and external teams to communicate risks, highlight compliance requirements and display competence in security being a development partner. You will gain practical stakeholder management experience in an organization that is a technology leader in its field, have the opportunity to grow your professional network while learning about Geotab’s other functional areas.
The opportunity:
- 4-8 month work-term beginning January 2026.
- Full-time, paid internship: Monday - Friday, 37.5hrs/week.

How you'll make an impact:
- Partner with security, IT, and business stakeholders to align on security objectives, risk tolerance, and compliance obligations; assist with risk assessments and present concise findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to define and document security requirements and acceptance criteria within epics/user stories; support secure SDLC practices.
- Work with developers and system owners to implement pragmatic security controls and review designs for common risks; help communicate mitigation plans and obtain buy-in.
- Draft clear security requirements, control matrices, and data handling guidelines in business terms; map controls to relevant frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, CIS) to aid implementation and audits.
- Document security decisions, exceptions, and residual risks; maintain risk register entries and facilitate stakeholder sign-off.
- Coordinate with project managers to plan security milestones and track remediation through closure.
- Contribute to vulnerability management by helping run scans, analyze findings, prioritize risk, and verify remediation.
- Create and maintain security documentation, including SOPs, runbooks, incident response playbooks, asset inventories, and control evidence for audits; recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Pursuing a Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Analytics, or a related field.
- Security analysis experience working with stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills, to evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish solution ideas from requirements, and distinguish user requests from underlying needs.
- Experience in requirements management, including collecting, documenting, analyzing, tracing, validating, prioritizing and controlling change.
- Experience understanding compliance requirements, reading tool output, and compiling requirements into actionable steps.
