Position Overview
The Loan Servicing Team Leader is responsible for serving as the primary point of contact for assigned loan servicing function. This individual will be considered the subject matter expert for assigned area and is accountable for the team’s service delivery. The Loan Servicing Team Leader will perform work as part of the team and will ensure the assigned team members’ work is completed with a high level of accuracy, while following the operational standards of the department and any associated regulatory requirements. The Loan Servicing Team Leader will also assist department management with task and duties to support overall department operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs the essential duties and responsibilities of assigned function as part of the team.
- Performs loan maintenance changes to the core servicing system, in accordance with current maintenance procedures.
- Makes recommendations for workflow improvements and ways to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitors, completes, and assigns maintenance requests received via the ticketing system.
- Provides guidance and on the job training to new and /or less experienced members of the team.
- Participates in and supports cross-training with other loan servicing areas.
- Productivity items for assigned team include, but may not be limited to:
- Ensures that all activities of the Loan Servicing Department are conducted in accordance with established lending policies and procedures. Monitors the efficiency and accuracy of all servicing tasks. Completes non-post transactions and transaction exceptions. Processes payment applications. Prints, reviews, and distributes pre-determined cold storage reports. Performs extensive research on collateral records. Oversees the receipt, perfection, and satisfaction of collateral documents. Accepts and processes draws on lines of credit. Assists with participation loans, participation payment remittances, and SBA loan processing as needed.
- Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.

- Supervises assigned employees (if applicable). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Partners with members of the Human Resources team to source, select, and onboard new employees.
- Plans, assigns, and directs work.
- Manages employee time and attendance; ensures accuracy of time and attendance records; approves timecards in a timely manner for payroll processing.
- Manages employee performance and behavior; provides timely documented feedback; partners with employee to complete a written Individual Development Plan.
- Motivates team members by using appropriate methods of reward and recognition.
- Openly communicates with team regarding pertinent policies and procedures affecting the department and/or their jobs.
- Ensures all assigned employees adhere to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the organization's compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that assigned employees complete all mandatory compliance and regulatory training assigned by the stated due date.
- Monitors work completion to ensure that deadlines are met, and that required work is performed per expected schedule or pace.
- Provides quality assurance; reviews and verifies the work of assigned team for accuracy and compliance.
- Plays an active role in protecting the organization and its customers against fraud by incorporating risk awareness and prevention into daily responsibilities.
- Distributes various reports as assigned or requested.
- Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
- Handles internal and external customer telephone calls.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her area of expertise, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
- Communicates with management and staff personnel to integrate goals and activities.
- Performs tasks, which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Education & Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent with an emphasis in a business curriculum. Some college or degree preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years related experience required.
Skill(s)
Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; knowledge of loan processing; proficient PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory, and speaking skills.
