Summary:
The Energy & Climate Project Coordinator is an entry-level position designed to prepare emerging professionals for a career in clean energy and climate policy. Under the guidance of the Energy & Climate Program Director and Project Manager, the Coordinator will contribute to research, policy tracking, and stakeholder engagement while developing the skills and experience necessary to advance into higher levels of responsibility. This role provides a strong foundation in energy and climate advocacy and offers direct exposure to utility regulation, state and local policy processes, and community engagement strategies.
Essential Functions:
- Track news, agendas, and public notices related to energy and climate issues in South Carolina.
- Conduct research on clean energy, energy efficiency, distributed generation, and climate resilience strategies.
- Assist with tracking regulatory proceedings and analyzing filings before the South Carolina Public Service Commission.
- Draft summaries, fact sheets, and background memos on policy issues.
- Assist with preparing comment letters, reports, and other advocacy materials.
- Translate technical or policy-heavy information into accessible language for diverse audiences.
- Help plan and coordinate meetings, workshops, and events with partners, utilities, government staff, and community stakeholders.
- Support community engagement efforts to build awareness around energy equity and climate solutions.
- Contribute to project tracking systems to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Provide logistical and administrative support to the program team.
- Collaborate with interns, fellows, or volunteers when applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 0-3 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated passion for environmental advocacy
- Familiarity with energy and climate policy and the inequitable impacts of climate change and energy cost burdens
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Familiarity with South Carolina’s government, regulatory, or policy landscape.
- Experience with community engagement, grassroots advocacy, or public education.
- Exposure to utility regulation, energy policy, or climate adaptation strategies.
- Basic knowledge of data analysis tools, GIS, or research software.
Work Environment
The position operates in a professional office environment and may include working remotely.
